How the standard wall-shear group ½Re_x^½C_f responds to unsteadiness, magnetic forcing, and nanoparticle loading when C_f=τ_w/(½ρ_fU_w²).

Definition
What it is — and what it is not
- Common misconceptions
- S1“Negative skin friction indicates a shrinking-sheet / reverse-flow regime” — not here: with f′(0) = 1 (stretching) the wall shear is negative in the NORMAL regime, simply because the wall moves faster than the fluid. Reading it as shrinking-sheet behaviour misattributes the sign.

How to deal with it
- Observed results
- S2Compute ½Re_x^{1/2}C_f from the converged f″(0), including both the hybrid-viscosity factor and the cubic Powell–Eyring correction; equivalently multiply the right-hand side by two to report Re_x^{1/2}C_f. Report the convention, signed value, magnitude, continuation branch, solver tolerance and relative change from the stated baseline; no percentage from an unverified draft is seeded as fact.
- Physical interpretation
- S3Negative wall shear is intrinsic to a STRETCHING wall: the wall outruns the fluid, so the fluid drags back on it (f″(0) < 0). Stronger Lorentz braking slows the fluid further, widening the wall–fluid velocity gap; nanoparticle loading raises effective viscosity (Brinkman), stiffening the shear.
